March of Dimes
There are many things in this world that I love. But there is nothing more that I love than my nieces & nephews. Every aunt thinks her nieces & nephews are the cutes, I just happen to be right because mine are not only cute but they are AMAZING!!!
There are so many good causes out there to be involved with but for me personally my two favorite ones are The Ronald McDonald House & The March of Dimes. I became involved with this organization when I was in high school & have tried to do the walk every year.
This year I found out about it a week ago so I got my info & my new shoes to do the walk. I didn't walk with a team it was just me but I met a lady names Katherine from Bremerton and she was sweet enough to ask me if I wanted to walk with her & her team. As we got talking she told me how she had a premie baby last September and the baby didn't make it. Her cousin had also lost a premie baby. Another lady in the team had a young boy who was a twin, his name is Emmett & his brother did not make it. You would think these people would be angry and looking to blame someone & maybe they do but today they were out there supporting other families that might need help with their premies. I talked to Katherine & i told her "One always thinks that this happens to other people but never do we think we could be those people." Katherine & her cousin are now pregnant and you can see the fear yet hope in their eyes as they get ready to bring a new life into this world.
So as I mentioned before my great love are my nieces & nephews and today I became even more grateful for them in my life. Not only are they amazing young men & young ladies but they are healthy. I know I get caught up in things that seems to be so important at the time but after talking to Katherine it made me realize how pity they really are.
My invitation is that we all look for a cause that we believe in or would love to help. As Gandhi said "Be the Change you want to see in the world."
WA Tullip Festival 2011
My SIL Melissa told me about the "Tullip Festival" and I was interested because in californina we have the Poppy Festival and that is always fun to go but the fields look so beautiful.
So I made my way up to Mt.Vernon to check out the tullips. One if you ever have the opportunity to go to this festival, make sure you are dressed warm and also VERY IMPORTANT make sure you have rain boots or any type of water proof type shoes. I saw this on the festivals website & Im very glad I listened because it was rainy on and off but also the fields were all muddy.
So on a side note: I didn't have rain boots so i went to the Goodwill to try to find something & I found some for $6.00 and it was the best purchase I made :-)
Ok so back to the festival, the flowers were in bloom and they were just AMAZING!!! I made it to one of the farms that is the distributor for the whole state. I had no idea there were so many type of tullips.
I don't know if the pictures will do them justice because they were just breath taking.
Meeting Grisette
My best friend Elisa and her husband Jason had a baby a few months ago but I was just able to meet her. Grisette is such a happy baby. I had so much fun visiting with The Hayman's & meeting their new addition to their family.
It was really funny to see how the dynamics in their family have changed with the baby. I always knew Elisa was the worry type but I had no idea that it would get to the extend that it is. I think what I liked no I would say loved about the visit is that Jason & Elisa seem to be more in love than they were before.
They are the type of couple that if you saw them you would think they were newly weds because they just ooze love. (It totally makes you want to gag :-) just kidding) But now with a baby they have not let that stop them they are still quite adorable.
I don't know if I have said this to Elisa but I know I've told my other friends that I want a marriage like theirs. Again it was really fun to see them & to get a chance to hang out with Grisette. I love that I have a new niece to buy stuff for. Girls are so much fun to shop for.
I wish they lived closer & I got to see them more often but it was really nice to be able to do some of Grisette's 1st. Her 1st NYC visit and her 1st St. Patty's Day :-) So here are some of the pictures from the trip.
